Whereas, State Rep. RJ May was arrested on June 11, 2025 and charged with 10 counts of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), which are among the most serious crimes against the welfare and safety of our community and children;

 

Whereas, State Rep. May is the founder of the SC House Freedom Caucus which pledges to uphold the highest standards of integrity, public service, and the trust;

 

Whereas, these charges, if proven true, represent an egregious violation of the trust and dignity required of a public official, and they cast an irreparable shadow over Rep. May’s ability to effectively represent the people of District 88;

 

Whereas, the gravity of the allegations has eroded public confidence in Rep. May’s ability to serve and to faithfully discharge the duties of his office;

 

Whereas, the people of District 88 deserve a representative who can serve with unwavering focus and moral clarity, free from the distraction of criminal proceedings and the taint of serious allegations;

 

Therefore, be it resolved that we, the undersigned citizens of South Carolina, hereby call upon Rep. RJ May to immediately resign his office in the South Carolina House of Representatives;
